The Sparefroh was in European promotion back in the year 1970. The original version had a coin glued to the front of the stem.
Sparefroh A[]
On October 31, it was World Savings Day. This is a holiday when people encourage others to save money in a bank. The Sparkasse banks in Austria gave these out to children who put money in their bank accounts that day or who just came for a visit with their parents.
There are many different inscriptions on the stem. Here are some:
- DEINE SPARKASSE
- 110 JAHRE ALLGEMEINE SPARKASSE IN LINZ
- SPARKASSE DER STADT ENNS
- SPARKASSE ROTTENEGG
The ones that start with SPARKASSE are the extremely rare ones. They can fetch $6,000 to $7,000 each! This dispenser must have the coin attached to be considered complete.
Sparefroh B[]
Sparefroh B was released in 2010. The head design looks to be exactly the same, but with updated features.
